A designated U.S. agent for service from the FAA is a U.S.-based individual or entity that an FAA certificate holder or applicant (especially those with foreign addresses) designates to receive, process, and forward official FAA documents on their behalf. This agent ensures timely delivery of crucial documents like enforcement letters and compliance notices, which is crucial for responding to time-sensitive FAA actions and maintaining certification status, as service on the agent is legally considered service on the certificate holder themselves

Designated agents receive official FAA documents at their U.S. physical address and must promptly forward them to the certificate holder. Both the agent and certificate holder need to maintain a reliable communication method to meet any deadlines.
